Maryland man facing murder and assault charges

The Charles County Detention Center gained a new inmate after an incident that took place on a recent Tuesday. Maryland investigators say they received information just after midnight about a stabbing in Waldorf. Police were dispatched to the location and discovered two people with stab wounds.

One of them was a woman whose injuries were not life-threatening. The other person, a 62-year-old man, was killed. Sometime later, police took another man into custody.  He is now facing multiple charges, including murder and assault.

Investigators have asked the public to assist

A detective’s phone number was published, asking anyone with more information about the stabbing incident to call in with details. They also provided a web address and mobile app for people to use. For a person to be convicted of first-degree murder in Maryland, prosecutors must prove the accused intentionally caused the death of another by lying in wait for the victim, by poisoning or while committing of attempting to commit certain specified violent felonies.
