Maryland police make DUI arrest after collision

On Behalf of | Nov 9, 2023 | CRIMINAL LAW - Drunk Driving

Maryland police were recently sent to investigate reports of a wrong-way driver heading westbound in an eastbound lane in Salisbury. While traveling to the scene, the officers learned that a two-car collision had occurred. They arrived to discover a man standing outside of his vehicle and another man trapped inside another car. The man who was standing alongside his car was later arrested for DUI.

Rescuers extricated the trapped driver. He was taken to a hospital for treatment of his injuries. The man who reportedly had been driving in the wrong direction was taken to a medical facility, then released. Following his release, he was taken into custody for suspected drunk driving.

Multiple charges, including DUI, have since been filed

The man who was arrested is now facing several criminal charges, including DUI. He is also charged with failing to obey a traffic control device and reckless driving, among other things. When facing multiple charges, it is wise to consult with someone with experience in the Maryland criminal justice system. Numerous strategies and defense options may be relevant to a particular case.

A Maryland DUI conviction can have both immediate and far-reaching implications in a person’s life. A person’s job might be at risk, especially if a judge orders a jail sentence. The sooner legal support is sought following an arrest, the better. There should be no delay in building a strong defense.
