Arrest made in suspected road rage death

On Behalf of | Dec 12, 2023 | CRIMINAL LAW - Violent Crimes

Many drivers on Maryland roadways encounter road rage. Aggressive and reactionary driving can lead to fender benders and minor accidents. In some cases, more serious consequences can occur if someone feels particularly upset about another driver’s actions. A recent incident of alleged road rage left one man dead, and another is now facing charges related to that death.

Is road rage to blame?

The incident in question happened on Nov. 30, just before 6 p.m. The Prince George County police were called to Oxon Hill in response to a shooting. When they arrived at the scene, they saw a man with a gunshot wound inside a vehicle. The 47-year-old male was taken to a nearby hospital where he died from injuries.

The suspect in the case, a 46-year-old male, is accused of shooting the other man because of a road rage incident that happened just before. The man is facing charges of first and second-degree murder, among others. He will now be tasked with defending himself against those charges in court. If convicted, he could face severe penalties.

Seek help when accused of a serious crime

A felony conviction can mean one may spend many years behind bars. Those with a felony record may struggle with finding a job, securing housing and may face other personal and professional challenges once they are out of prison. Anyone facing a felony charge in Maryland should consult with a criminal defense attorney as soon as possible. No one must face these charges alone and an attorney can help plan the best defense to present in court.
